Parramatta Roofers exists to do one thing well: connect people in this part of western Sydney with a roofer who will look at the actual problem, explain it in plain language, and quote it in writing.

How the arrangement works

This is a referral website. The work is carried out by established, licensed and insured local roofing contractors working to NSW Fair Trading requirements, and every completed job carries a written workmanship warranty. We are upfront about that because you should know who is turning up and under what terms. The full explanation is on the disclaimer page.

What it means in practice is that the inspection, the quote and the job are all handled by people who do this trade every day, and that you are dealing with one point of contact rather than chasing three businesses.

What we will and will not say

We will tell you when a roof does not need the work you were quoted somewhere else. We will tell you when a repair is a reasonable short-term call and when it is throwing money at something finished. We will put a range on a job the moment we have seen it, and a written itemised quote shortly after.

We will not price a roof over the phone, publish a square-metre rate that cannot hold across a Federation roof in Harris Park and a flat-pitch townhouse in Rydalmere, or tell you a claim will be approved by your insurer. We will not invent urgency to get a signature today.

Why the local detail matters

Parramatta is not a generic Sydney roofing market. A few things about it change how a roof should be approached:

The age spread is enormous. This is the oldest inland settlement in Sydney. Inside a short drive you have unglazed terracotta from before the First World War, post-war concrete tile, 1970s split-levels, and brand-new low-pitch sheet metal on infill townhouses. The right answer on one is the wrong answer on the next.

Box gutters are everywhere. The older homes, and more importantly the additions grafted onto the back of them, frequently drain through an internal box gutter rather than off an eave. When those fail the water goes into the ceiling, not onto the garden. It is the single most common cause of serious internal damage we see here.

The ground moves. Soils across the Cumberland Plain weathered from Wianamatta Group shale are moderately to highly reactive clays, and sites are commonly classified M or H1 under AS 2870. That seasonal swelling and shrinking cracks rigid mortar pointing year after year, which is why flexible pointing is the correct specification on a roof in this area and not an optional upgrade.

Hail is the damage event. Western Sydney, including Parramatta, sits inside the part of the basin that takes the brunt of the summer storm season. Aged tile cracks under hail; steel dents and keeps working. That difference drives a lot of material decisions here.

Heritage controls are real. The City of Parramatta has 18 heritage conservation areas, among them North Parramatta, Sorrell Street, South Parramatta, Experiment Farm and Harris Park West. Changing the external appearance of a building in one of them generally requires Council consent, and a roof is very external. Cumberland City Council applies its own controls across the southern suburbs.
